Child Care Frequently Asked Questions

What experience do your Nannies have?

We have a team of Nannies with varying experience; from years of working as a private nanny in the French Alps to being a Mum of three. Everyone will have a paediatric first-aid training qualification. We will provide details of your Nanny after booking with SnowBugs and you can read more about them here.

Is each Nanny insured and police checked?

We promise that each Nanny will have completed the UK DBS check or national equivalent which will be presented before employment begins. All Nannies will also be fully insured to care for your children. We also ask for an employment and character reference.

What if my child or children fall ill during our holiday?

We will continue to care for them as long as your child or children are comfortable and it's safe for the nanny to do so. Under your advisement we can administer medicine, such as Calpol, for sniffles and colds, can administer prescribed medicine with written consent from a parent or guardian and we can help you arrange seeing a doctor if needed.

What will happen in an emergency situation?

We will ask you during booking for emergency contact numbers of both parents/guardians and provide you with the number of your nannies. You can also contact 0044 7908 748 262 / 0033 616 973 601. We will get in touch immediately if there are any accidents, perform first-aid with your consent and alert the EMS if necessary. Everyone is also fully insured.

When will I meet my Nanny?

On the first day of child care your Nanny will arrive around 15-20 minutes early. Most bookings are of 6 days so to allow your Nanny to reenergise and get ready for your child care we have to allow for one day off a week, which is usually a Saturday when guests arrive in resort.

What activities will you do with the children?

Every SnowBug Nanny is equipped with a bag of toys, bum boards and arts and crafts. We also have sledges for smaller children and if you visit our Baby Equipment Hire page you will find lots of information on where you can hire things like push-chairs for your stay.

There are a range of activities available for the children in La Tania (now part of Courchevel!), Courchevel and Meribel – if there is something in particular you would like us to do with your child(ren) please just let us know and we will make sure we include this in the weeks activities! For example we can go swimming, to soft play, sledging, for hot chocolate, ice skating, bowling….

Please note that some activities will incur an extra cost. We ask that your Nanny is provided a kitty to use and we will provide change and all receipts at the end of each day / week (whatever works for you). This would include lunch, refreshments and activity costs.

How far in advance do I have to book?

We would advise booking child care at the same time as your accommodation etc., or at least 8 weeks before your winter holiday. But, we are happy to book you in up to the evening before the required date – if we have a space we would of course love to help! In this case please do make sure you call directly on +44 7908 748 262 / +33 616 973 601.

Half terms and school holidays get very, VERY busy and we usually work from a waiting list – if you come to the 3 Valleys regularly why not ask to be added and we’ll be in touch for your future trip with an early opportunity to book! Usually families holidaying in half term and school holidays would begin planning their winter holiday around 9 – 12 months before. So, just as soon as you can really…!

When are UK half term and school holidays this winter?

The 2017/2018 UK Winter / Spring Half Term and School Holiday dates are:

Christmas Holidays: Saturday 5th December 2017 - Friday 5th January 2018
February Half Terms: Saturday 10th - Friday 23rd February 2018
Easter Holidays: Saturday 24th - Friday 13th April 2018

How do I pay?

Costs are all settled at the time of booking in sterling, via bank transfer (BACS). For bookings with more than one family we understand that you may want to split the costs between your group so we are happy to accept multiple payments – please just use the reference provided on your payment request so we know who it’s from and give us a heads up.

Payments plans can be discussed for larger bookings exceeding £1000. All payments must be settled no later than 8 weeks before your booking commences. A deposit of 50% of overall costs is required for all bookings.

For more information please refer to our terms and conditions under the ‘Useful Info’ section on the right of the page, or give us a call!

Can I pay upfront?

This can be arranged upon request and will need to be in sterling.

What if I need to cancel?

Please send an email with details of your booking to [email protected]

Where notification of a cancellation is more than 8 weeks before the start of your booking no further payments will be due. Your initial deposit payment is non-refundable.  Where notification of a cancellation is less than 8 weeks before the start of the booking, no payments made will be refunded. Should the payment not have been settled at the time of your cancellation you will be invoiced the total booking fee.

Please see our terms and conditions for more information.

Can you recommend any places to stay?

We can recommend a range of chalet companies for you on our 'Associated Chalets' page of the SnowBugs website.

Which ski school would you recommend?

We work with the team at New Generation because quite simply, they are fantastic and we highly recommend them! We would be happy to assist in your enquiry with them so just let us know what kind of thing you and your family are looking for and we can get you some more information and put you in touch!

Where can we hire our skis or snowboards?

There are lots of hire shops in all resorts so finding equipment won’t be a problem. In resort centre look for ‘Magasin De Location’ or ‘Location de Ski’ shops. In particular in La Tania Ski Higher are very helpful. It's generally much cheaper to hire in advance via the internet.

How can I get to resort?

We recommend STS, a transfer partner of ours. They offer the best family friendly service around and always go the extra mile to make sure the journey is as comfortable as possible for your little ones.
